HAWCO BAND BIO

The Band
The band is made up of Doug Hawco (singer/songwriter/guitarist), Brian Smith (backing vocals/keys/lead guitar), Gary Leblanc (bassist) and Steve Murphy (drums). These talented musicians came together to form a super group from prior rock bands such as Edgy and A Show of Hands (Rush Tribute), to name a few.

Doug Hawco
Doug first perfected his solo career, which has taken him from Vancouver, Toronto, St. John's and Halifax, landing him on atlantic television shows, covers of magazines and some good newspaper articles.  Being from St. John's, Newfoundland, Doug started his touring on the George Street Circuit.  Doug's vocals and style will guarantee you a night to remember.

Brian Smith
Brian starred Ontario's premier "Rush tribute band", where he sang as Geddy Lee and played lead guitar, a very hard role to perform.  He was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick and spent most of his life in London, Ontario.  Brian's guitar playing captivates audiences and leaves them wanting more.

Gary LeBlanc
Gary is no stranger to the band scene; having played many venues in Halifax with his first band 'edgy'; which also successfully recorded and released 2 albums.  A native of Cheticamp, Cape Breton, the newest member of Hawco may have his roots firmly planted in rock, but is an avid listener of many different styles of music including jazz and adds a unique dynamic to the group.

Steve Murphy
Steve learned how to play drums in 1983, when he saw the Van Halen video for Jump.
Steve has been playing the professionally since 1996.  This great talent adds energy and charisma to the band while keeping the group alligned with his metronome beats.
